GUA SHA massage in Sofia at Padmalaya

Guasha is an ancient Chinese healing therapy with a very high positive effect and a wide range of application for curing many diseases and health problems. According to the Chinese medicine a disease is influenced by external factors such as heat, cold, wind and humidity. They penetrate the body mostly through the skin and during the period of the disease a lot of toxins are accumulated in the body which prevents the free flow of the energy in the body.

The pains in the body represent the blockages in the blood and the vital energy Chi, and Guasha enhances the entire energy flow in the body and removes the blockages and the energy stagnation, and thus stimulates the healing processes, activates the protective mechanisms of the body and the detoxification.

GUA SHA "scraping away everything bad" ”Gua" - scrape; "Sha" – bad, disease.
In order all the negative elements to be “scraped” out of the body a special scraper made of jade, BianStone, or horn is used.
Different areas of the body are treated with this plate (usually on the back and the neck) and the focus is on different reflexology zones, body meridians and groups of reflexive acupressure points, and in some cases the therapy is also applied to the head and the face.

The therapy is based on the principles of the Chinese medicine that refer to the meridians in the body. The meridians are the paths – the energy channels, through which in the body circulates the vital energy Qi that nourishes the body organs and areas that correspond to the particular meridians.

The meridians are symmetrically located in pairs of channels in the body. Each of the 12 basic meridians has a complex system of branches that provides the energy for the corresponding internal organ in the body. The places where the meridians reach thesurface of the skin are the so called energetic, acupressure, acupuncture points.

The massage or so called “scraping” is applied by performing one movements in one direction, from upwards to downwards, following the blood circulation, and the movements are repeated several times. The technique includes three basic methods of application:

SE-gua – quick movements with applied strong pressure – a method of dispersing, elimination of the excess of negative energy;
Boo-gua – slow movements with slight pressure–reduction, toning massage;
Pin-Bu Ping-SE: slow movements with strong pressure – a combination of the previous two techniques.

During the massage the client might feel some tingling or numbness in the treated area and might experience some discomfort in the problematic zones. If a sound like slight crunch, resembling crunching of sand, appears at the time of the massage, this sound is called by the Chinese “at the threshold of Sha” which means that the release of toxic substances has started. Although the massage itself is not painful, after it is applied the treated areas become reddish and these areas might become purple or some red spots might appear, the so called Sha spots, bruises and small capillary damage which appear because at these areas the blood circulation is impaired and there is energy stagnation, and they also mean that the healing process has already started. The reaction of the skin after the massage should not worry the client since these post-massage conditions disappear in 2-3 days after the massage.

If you decide to trust us and benefit from the Guasha massage, after the application of the massage you should drink warm water during the next 48 hours since it helps the body to purge and remove the toxins from the body.

At the time of the Guasha procedures it is advisable not to take medicines.

Guasha is applied once or twice per week, usually when the redness of the skin as a result from the previous procedure has gone away. The treatment includes 10 to 20 procedures. It is recommended that the therapy is applied twice per year.
